I got one in the mail too. Actual mail not email. Has a picture of a derv like the nightfall box but with christmas color clothing on the front.
Inside it says "From the Kingdom of ascalon to shing jea monastery, from kamadan to lion's arch, we wish you the happiest of holidays!"
"From all of us on the Guild Wars Team"
And it has a bunch of signatures inside it.
oh yea and Thanks Anet! That was a great gift! More special than some digital goody. Never expected it.

It was sent by snail mail and not by email
I have no reason to make up make stuff like this since its waste of my time while I have better things to do than that so take my word as is or leave it. For all I know all the names they picked were random from all the Guild Wars accounts
Mine was numbered 335/1000 so I'm not the only one that was sent one in the mail, Gaile and several other Guild Wars Team members took their time and personally singed them.
If Gaile sees this thread she can confirm that Anet did in fact send SOME people a card for the Holidays.

Here is the story of the holiday cards:
Several weeks ago, the Guild Wars team came up with the idea that they would like to do something special for the players. However, the thought of hand-signing and hand-numbering hundreds of thousands of card—in lovely sparkly silver ink, I'll have you know—was pretty daunting, especially at this busy time of year and with Wintersday festivities to plan. As much as we wanted to do such a thing, we knew that we could not.
The Frog stepped up to the plate, saying, "There are citizens of note, surely to at least a few of them a holiday greeting could be sent?" We hesitated still—eying calendars and schedules—and the kindly ancient amphibian took the matter into his own…hands? paws? flippers?... anyway, The Frog offered to help, saying, "We could assist with the finding of these good folk!"
Since we all know The Frog is particularly fond for all things having to do with holidays, festivities, and parties, his gracious offer did not surprise us. However, I confess that we were a bit startled to see the entire TPN (Tadpole Network) don seasonally-correct snowmen suits and start searching the game world. They traveled Tyria. They combed Cantha. They examined Elona. And after their endeavours, they provided a list of notable citizens to us. This list consisted of those they found—through mysterious means—to have shown themselves to be "extraordinary citizens." {To us, this translated to "having shown outstanding support for Guild Wars and ArenaNet," of course.} So of those names, our list was built.
Flash forward past design discussions, message writing, folding parties, co-founders numbering, stack passing, envelope stuffing, address list sorting, post office line standing, and more, and the cards are just now landing in the hands of many exceptional Guild Wars players, with more to come in the next week or two.
If you wonder how these individuals were selected, well, that is where the message gets even more cryptic: Compare who you are, what you have done, and consider your connectedness to and involvement with the game. There are things that you share in common. And that… is all I shall say.
We look forward to seeing everyone in the Wintersday Festival, where we will have greetings and goodies this week for all!

Thank you Anet for the awsome holiday card!!!
I got home from a boring day at work (and a dentist appointment ) and mom handed me the mail, i had a bill and to my surprise an envelope from Anet, i opened the envelope and to my delighted surprise there was a Christmas Card #789/1000, It made my day! Thank you Gaile and everyone else on the Anet team that took their personal time to sign my card, it really means allot to me .
Thanks you again and Merry Christmas to the entire Anet team, and all who read this!
William The Swift.
P.S. I might upload a picture of the card if anyone wants to see it, if Gaile doesn't mind XD.

Oh, please do! We have no objections to you sharing. And honestly, your note -- this time of year -- I'm sitting here wiping the corner of my eye. *dust, don't you know?*

Is it activities in game or on forums? I don't understand how you select people as suitable for Christmas cards.

Well I'm pretty sure at least one requirement is having all 3 chapters since they mention all 3 in the card.
I have all 3, 2 of them Collectors editions. I've also bought a ton of character slots. I have 26 slots. That could be a factor XD.
I have number 274/1000

....I'm in Thailand, and I have a feeling that the postel cost would be too high to send the card to me so..... I guess I'm not getting one.

I'm too brutally honest to make the Christmas card list.

That means that any amount of great support shown here in the forums is hardly going to get some of us recognised, considering that a lot of us have nothing here that even remotely hints at which GW account we own.
